Fatih Municipality of AKP wants to build a facility in the area where the historical Yedikule orchards, which were built in the Byzantine period and located next to the city castle walls of Istanbul, have been used as an agricultural area for centuries. According to the news of the Cumhuriyet newspaper; Initiative for the Protection of Yedikule Orchards, İnanç Kıran stated: “They want to destroy a heritage with an artificial landscape. While the importance of the city orchards was noticed during the pandemic period, such an area is desired to be preserved and used as a garden. We do not want to lose these gardens.”
